VXLAN is a tunneling technology which encapsulates L2 frames inside UDP packets usually sent on port 4789. Virtual Extensible LAN (VXLAN) is a network virtualization technology that attempts to improve the scalability problems associated with large cloud computing deployments. In this second post, we will look at VXLAN in more details and how Docker uses it. We have also seen that the overlay communication between Docker hosts uses VXLAN.
